See, think, wonder

Image #1

SEE- I see emus, trees, people hunting the emus for food, rocks, branches, bushes, grass and the people wearing animal skin for clothing.

THINK-think that the indigenous people are hunting the emus for clothes and food.

WONDER- what animal skin are they wearing -how did they make there clothes – how did they hunt and kill the animals.

My Reading

Hi everyone!

I really like to read graphic novels. My favourite vbook of the genre would be the babysitters club. I really enjoy reading these books because they are really  entertaining and tell you about the different children they babysit for because each of them have different personalities.

My book-chat book that I’m reading now is war hourse. I found it very hard to understand who talking at the start but once you get half way through it, it’s a really good book. I won’t spoil to much but it is about a man and his hourse when one of them goes to war the other one goes looking for the other and then..I can’t spoil any more!

Dear Future Year 4’s

Dear Future Year 4’s,

I hear your coming up to year 4 this year.

Year 4 is an amazing grade. You get you pen license, you get to go on many excursions you help the homeless and you get to make up an amazing, cool experiment in partners and camp!

Here’s three things you need….

-knowledge because the things we do in year 4 are a bit more challenging than the things you do in year 3.

-independence because you need to be able to do things without teachers help.

-and resilience because if an answer becomes to tricky you don’t give up!

Two things to look forward to are….

  • Going to camp because you get to do so many fun experiences!
  • To also to go an excursion to Woolworths to buy food for the homeless.

A time I laughed was when..some people at camp on the giant swing were screaming silly things!

A time I was challenged was when…we had to walk to a park and then go to camp passing rocks and so much mud and it took 2 and a half hours!

I am proud of… how hard we worked on the nativity play to write the scripts and to make the props.

I always remember Mrs Burns and Mrs Hanies saying…give it a go! I think they say this because you always need to try!

Nativity

Nativity

In term 4 each of the year 4 classes had to get into partners and write a one Sean for a script but all the year 4 classes did it separate though. Now we have to practice because we are going to perform to some people and we have to memorise out parts.

We did it and we had auditions for what part you were going to be. I got narrater. We did an eyes shut vote on who would get which part. In the end most people where happy about which part they got.

Now we are practicing our scripts and getting our costumes ready because we have got to perform to the other year 4 classes the year 3s and an age care facility.  As I said we have to memorise our parts but we are all really excited.

What has been challenging is that some people when we’re practicing go in when it’s not there turn to say anything and then we have to say that scene one more time even if we’re on the last sentence! I really like how we get to dress up even the narrators!

We have used connectedness because when someone forgets their lines we help them remember.

Judging Non-fiction books

Hi everyone,

This term the whole school judged the CBCA the shortlist. We all judged the Layout, Visuals and information of different books out 30. We judged them for 6 weeks. I will share some criteria about what I think makes a good book.

-A great book has to not be to distracting because then it is hard to read and you get to distracted.

-The pictures have to match the text because then it looks like a totally different story and then you will probably also not no what the story is about.

-The text has to be detailed and it has to be clear to read and have a descent font.

The book I chose though is MC Escher Make Believe. The reason why I chose this book is because there were such amazing drawings and some of the tricked your brain since they looked like two different things.

What do you think makes a good book?

Bye for now, Eleni‘

Science Experiment

This term we did a Science experiment we got to choose what we wanted to do. We chose do an experiment involving elasticity.
We chose to do an experiment with balloons and weights, basically how our experiment worked is we attached the weights to the balloons and saw which ones would break with different amounts of weights.
What we found well is we videotaped it in slo-mo and that really showed when the balloon broke.
Our difficulties were that we had too find a way to attach the weights to the ballon.
We tried string except the weights kept on falling of but then we found a way!
We used resilience when we couldn’t attach the weights to the ballon and trust me we tried multiple times!

Bye, from Eleni

Book Week

On the 23rd of August we had book week. I dressed up as thing one and my friend was thing two. The author of the book was Dr Seuss an all time favourite. Dr Seuss writes most of his books in the genre humour so this one was obviously in that genre. The reason why we chose this book is because it is easy to dress up as and also as I said his books are an all time favourite!

The book is about two twin brothers who enter out of a box when the cat in the hat opens it. After they enter the box they start making mischief witch is no help for the house because they started to smash plates and break all sorts of things!

Another reason why we chose to be thing one and two is because our personalities are similar. We both are funny and sometimes we get up to mischief! And we are probably a similar age!

If you like funny books the you must read this book or any dr Seuss book because if your sad the book will cheer you up because it is super funny and a bit weird!

We had a great day on book week, it was so fun and interesting.

What did you dress as for book week and did you enjoy it?

 Bye from Eleni!

Salvation Army Community Service

A few weeks ago Peter from the Salvation army came here to talk about what we were going to do to help the people that are homeless. At home everybody is going to do bigger chores than they usually do and have three weeks to earn $20 or more by doing their chores. After three weeks we are going to come to school with our money. If you’re wondering what the money is going to go into, well, we’re going to buy a material and make a big blanket out of it. Any extra money we are going to buy toiletries for the homeless to use. If you’re wondering what material we are using well we did some test in science about what will keep you warm, what is easy to clean and if gets wet it won’t stay wet.

The visit from Peter was great and we are trying hard to make as much money as we can, Thank you.

My Science Experiment

Yesterday we conducted an experiment called Leak, Soak or Repel. We did this experiment to see what material would be the best for a blanket because we are making blankets for people in need of them. We discovered that Polar Fleece is the best Materiel for Making a blanket. The experiment was when we raped different materials on cups and put a few drops of blue water on them and we did that to see if they would Leak, Soak or Repel.
